International cooperation to control viral infections

We conduct field surveys and epidemiological analyses overseas to control important diseases such as avian influenza. Our department also functions as a WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health) reference laboratory for avian influenza .

Molecular biology of influenza viruses and elucidation of the mechanisms of inter-host transmission.

Molecular epidemiology and elucidation of disease mechanisms of pestiviruses

We are conducting unique research focused on "glycans and viruses" with the aim of elucidating the ecology of the influenza virus.

We are conducting multifaceted research aimed at controlling swine fever and bovine viral diarrhea caused by viruses of the pestivirus genus, including surveys of the prevalence of these diseases in Japan, vaccine development, and pathogenicity analysis.
