Molecular epidemiology and elucidation of disease mechanisms of pestiviruses
Topic 1

Our laboratory conducts basic and applied research aimed at eradicating classical swine fever (ASF) in Japan. In particular, we are developing cell- to organism-level research using reverse genetics of the ASF virus as our core technology. This will contribute to establishing diagnostic methods for ASF and elucidating the mechanisms of disease manifestation, as well as developing novel ASF marker vaccines.

Topic 2

Our laboratory, in collaboration with the Hokkaido Prefectural Government, has been continuously conducting molecular epidemiological analyses of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVD virus) in Hokkaido since 2000. Based on the results obtained, we are proposing changes to vaccine strains.
